Multi-Level PVC Deck & Staircase in Belcarra, BC
Ocean Access Build
This custom multi-level deck and staircase project in Belcarra, British Columbia, was designed to create a seamless and functional connection from the home’s driveway down to a private oceanfront dock. Located just outside Vancouver, this project highlights expert craftsmanship and smart design tailored for steep, waterfront terrain.
Due to the challenging elevation, the build includes multiple staircase sections integrated across different deck levels, with a total of 66 steps from top to bottom. Each staircase was carefully planned to ensure safe, comfortable transitions while maintaining a cohesive look throughout the entire structure.
The framing was constructed using durable 3x12 pressure-treated (PT) lumber, providing the strength required for a high-traffic, load-bearing system on a hillside property. To extend the lifespan of the structure in a coastal environment, all joists were protected with joist tape, reducing moisture intrusion and preventing premature wood rot.
For the deck surface, we used premium TimberTech PVC decking, a top-tier material ideal for oceanfront homes. It offers exceptional resistance to moisture, mold, and fading—perfect for the wet conditions common in Belcarra and the Greater Vancouver area. The addition of sleek aluminum railings enhances safety while preserving clear views of the water.
